 -  After winning 1^st place in the regional level Jose travelled to Washington D.C. to compete for the 2009 National Society of Arts and Letters Drama Competition. Out of 19 national finalists Jose was awarded 2nd place at the national level of the competition.

- Judges included: Tony Winner Mark Medoff(Playwright, Screenwriter, and Director), Geoffrey Soffer(Casting Director ABC/ Ugly Betty, Mark Ramont(Ford’s Theatre), and Robert C. Pullen(Kennedy Center). John Lithgow was also given an award for his achievements in theatre. After the competition the contestants had a master class with all of the judges and Mr. Lithgow. Past contestants have included Jane Fonda and Megan Hilty.
